The Christmas cactus belongs to the plant family of the cactus. It is native in the coastal mountains of south-eastern Brazil. It received its name due to the fact that it blooms around Christmas. The flowers, which are often shaped zygomorphous, is available in different colors. They present abundant nectar which serves as a food source to hummingbirds.
