It is not clear if this plant originated in Europe, Asia, or in the Mediterranean, but it is at home nearly everywhere in the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere. In the seventeenth century an apothecary thought, he would disturb sleep and impair sight. Only the special request of a country nobleman made him inscribe it into his herbal book.
